Taking Light Rail to the Hotel

From baggage claim at the Minneapolis International Airport, follow the signs to the Metro Light Rail. Trains run from about 4 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, arriving roughly every 10 minutes during rush hours.

There are ticket machines at each station; tickets can be purchased using cash or a credit card. Fees are $1.75 during non-peak times and $2.25 during rush hour.

Note that rail station platforms are paid fare zones, reserved for those who are purchasing tickets or for ticketed customers who are waiting for or getting off trains.

Fares are valid for 2½ hours from time of purchase and must be purchased before boarding the train; tickets cannot be purchased onboard. Customers must be prepared to show proof of payment on the train; those without a valid ticket or pass are subject to a $180 fine.

Take the Hiawatha Line (Route 55) to the Nicollet Mall Station (35 South Fifth Street); the trip takes about 25 minutes. Then hop on any southbound bus for the 8 block ride to the Hyatt Regency (13th Street & Nicollet Mall). Use your light rail ticket for your bus ride; if you paid with a single-ride ticket, your bus transfer is built right in, so when you get on the bus, just insert your single-ride ticket into the farebox.
